About Venture Caravans
In 1971, brothers Jack and Colin Brown, took over a disused petrol station on the A5 in Northamptonshire. After renovating the premises they opened an attended service Shell petrol station called Toll House Motors. Adjacent to the garage premises was an area that they thought may be suitable for displaying and selling tents and camping equipment and before long the famous "Go Camping" was launched. The 1970's was a boom time for caravans and camping and in 1976 the brothers successfully negotiated to buy Broad Lane Caravans near Kenilworth.
After establishing the Kenilworth site they went on to become a major force in the caravan industry selling caravans such as Sprite, Swift, Abi, Fleetwood, Adria, and Thompson. Eventually, Jack's son Dave and Colin's sons Steve and Darren joined the business. March of 1984 saw the purchase of Rugby caravans and only after purchasing the site at Alcester in 1990, which was at the time a disused builders merchants, did they decide to pull all of the branches under the umbrella of Broad Lane.
2010 has seen a major change with Jack and son Dave selling out their share of Broad Lane Leisure to form Venture Caravans. Jack said, "We have for some time discussed the amicable divide of the business and feel that 2010 to be absolutely the right time for us all. The caravan industry is going from strength to strength with a lot of exciting products hitting the market and it gives us the opportunity to reinvigorate both Broad Lane and Venture and bring a fresh enthusiasm that will be of benefit to all of our loyal customers. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your continued support".
